Responsible to                                                              Senior Administrator and CE Supervisor
Working hours                                                              19.5 hours per week

(Working hours may be subject to change and the gardener will be required to be flexible in terms of working hours)

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Gardening Duties

  • Upkeep of grounds to include use of lawnmowers, strimmers, power hose etc.
  • To keep the Peace Park and front of building clean and tidy and free from litter, build-up of leaves etc. at all times and ensuring that bins are emptied on a regular basis
  • Ensure pathways are gritted during frosty weather
  • To ensure that tools, equipment and machinery are in good working order prior to use and make arrangements with your Line Manager should they need repairing/servicing
  • Sourcing plants, shrubbery etc. at best prices
  • Keeping walls and paths weed and moss free
  • Purchasing and using pesticides (training essential)
  • Ensure trees are safe.  Notify your Line Manager if tree surgeon is required.
  • Notify maintenance if paths are slippery, winds are high or if using pesticides to ensure that park gates are locked and park is inaccessible to the public

 

Other Duties

  • To be flexible and prioritise workload accordingly
  • To work in conjunction with other team members
  • To allocate and manage time efficiently
  • To be familiar with and adhere to the policies & Procedures of Sligo Social Services at all times
  • To carry out duties in a professional manner
  • To adhere to all Health and Safety Regulations as per the organisations Health and Safety Statement
  • Participation in agreed programmes of training
  • To participate in supervision with supervisor on a regular basis
  • Attend meetings as required
  • To carry out any other duties allocated by your Line Manager
